As I’ve said before here and here, fall is definitely my favorite season. What’s not to love? The cooler air, the cozy slippers, and pumpkin spice everywhere… it all puts a smile on my face. This year, as you celebrate everything that is special about fall, don’t forget about your dogs – you can make fall exciting for them, too!

Here are some fabulous ways to encourage your pup embrace the spirit of the season:

1. Play in the leaves!
Just like kids, dogs are curious by the colors & textures of crisp fall leaves. Create a nice pile of leaves and invite your dog to explore and play with the leaves. As always, make sure your dogs are protected against fleas & ticks with a product that is appropriate for their breed & age. To make the leaf activity even more exciting, bring one of your dog’s fave toys (like a squeaky toy) and bury it under the leaves – let your dog find it!

5. Snuggle indoors!
When the weather gets cooler, I really enjoy snuggling in my comfiest pajamas, brewing a mug of hot chocolate and cuddling up with my favorite magazine. This fall, invite your furbaby to cuddle alongside you on the couch and just relax together. It’s a great bonding experience.
