A homeless man was left devastated after heartless thieves snatched his beloved dog.

Nick Rowley was on Newmarket High Street when two men snatched his companion.

Bailey, a four-year-old lurcher, was then seen being bundled into the back of a transit van.

Two weeks later the beloved pet has finally been found over 30 miles away in Huntingdon.

Amy McBrearthy, a friend of Nick's, said he was absolutely devastated by the loss.

She said: "Two people came up and took the dog. A taxi driver tried to help but they grabbed Bailey and put him in a transit van and zoomed off. "

The duo of Nick and Bailey are inseparable and were never seen without each other and were reunited yesterday (April 19).

Amy said: "They are always out and about."

" Bailey and Nick are so close-knit, he doesn't leave Nick's side," she added.

The two men who took Bailey have been described as a blond man in his 30s and a dark-haired man in his 40s.

Bailey was taken on April 4 and reports earlier this week reported seeing a similar looking dog in the Huntingdon area.

Across social media people have slammed the "heartless thieves".
